The Broad Mountain is a large, picturesque mountain located in Carbon County and Schuylkill County in Pennsylvania. It is home to wildlife such as deer, eagles, songbirds and others entrenched in a rich forest of trees which help keep the natural habitat thriving. Fortunately, some of the forest is protected by state game lands. Unfortunately, a wind company is proposing a wind turbine project on top of Broad Mountain, which, if approved, will have some of the largest turbines in the United States. We can’t let that happen...we need the wildlife, birds and forested watersheds to remain preserved. We need the mountain to remain preserved and not be degraded by industrial development.
A group of Packer Township residents have joined Save Our Allegheny Ridges (SOAR), engaging their help and expertise to stop the turbines. SOAR is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization and all donations in the name of Save Broad Mountain to SOAR are tax-deductible. All donations are used to pay legal fees incurred in this cause. We need help from surrounding communities such as Rush Township, Nesquehoning Borough, Lake Hauto and others interested to join our opposition.
